Islamabad: The National Assembly, the lower house of the Parliament, will elect a new prime minister on Monday (tomorrow) with all eyes set on PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif as the hot favorite for the post.

Monday’s Assembly session which was set to start at 11:00 am will now be held at 2:00 pm.

The nomination papers for the election of the new leader of the house can be submitted to the National Assembly on Sunday (today), said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarian Ayaz Sadiq, who also presided over the NA session which voted out Imran Khan as prime minister.

The PML-N lawmaker stated that the nomination papers could be submitted by 2:00 pm Sunday and scrutiny of the papers will be carried out at 3:00 pm.

He also added that the time for the Lower House session for the election of the new prime minister had been changed from 11 am to 2 pm on Monday (tomorrow).
