NEPRA hikes power tariff by Rs2.86 per unit
In this regard, an official notification is expected to be issued soon.
Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Wednesday decided to increase the power tariff by Rs2.86 on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA).
According to details, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had sent the application to Nepra, seeking Rs3.15 per unit hike in electricity price.
As per reports, Nepra conducted a hearing to consider CPPA proposal and approved a surge of Rs2.86. The hike will put an additional burden of Rs28.9 billion on electricity consumers.
In this regard, an official notification is expected to be issued soon.
Earlier, CPPA had sought increase in power tariff under fuel adjustment for the month of March.
K-Electric (KE) customers will face a hike of Rs4.83 per/unit.
However, all consumer categories of distribution companies, except for lifeline customers and K-electric consumers, will pay the FCA with the bill for May 2022.
