Shawwal moon not sighted in Pakistan, Eidul Fitr to be observed on Tuesday
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad makes the announcement
Islamabad: Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced on Sunday that Eidul Fitr in Pakistan would be celebrated on May 3 (Tuesday) as Shawwal moon was not sigthed today.
The announcement came at a press conference.
The committe's main meeting was convened this evening in the federal capital under its Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad to sight the moon for Eidul Fitr, whereas zonal bodies of the committee also met in Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and Lahore.
Earlier, the committee members in Karachi said the moon had not been sighted anywhere in the city, adding the final decision would be announced by the committee chairman from Islamabad.
