Joint Parliamentary session to be held today
The session will start at 4:00 pm
Islamabad: President Arif Alvi has summoned a joint Parliamentary session today.
According to details, the session will start at 4:00 pm.
President Arif Alvi has convened the joint session of the Parliament that would be attended by members of both the houses – National Assembly and Senate – on Thursday, said a press release.
The President has summoned the joint session of the Parliament in the exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution, it added.
The NAB and the Election Act Amendment Bill are on the agenda of the joint sitting of Parliament. Both the bills were returned by the President previously and will be submitted again for approval today.
President Dr. Arif Alvi had sent back the Election and NAB Amendment Bills for review. The bill was referred back to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif under Article 75 (b) of the Constitution.
According to the agenda, the National Technology Board and Pak University of Engineering and Emergency Technology Bill, which have not been approved by the Senate, will also be presented in the meeting for approval.
In addition, the Parental Protection Bill, which has not been approved by the Senate, will be tabled in today's joint sitting of Parliament.
A motion to discuss the country's economic situation will also be tabled in the session.
