Imran Khan challenges ECP Toshakhana verdict in IHC
The ECP bench reserved the verdict on September 19
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) verdict to disqualify former premier Imran Khan in the Toshakhana (gift depository) reference in Islamabad High Court on Saturday.
On Friday, a five-member bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the verdict in the Toshakhana reference against former premier Imran Khan.
As per the consensus verdict, the cricketer-turned-politician will no longer be able to retain any of his seats including NA-95 Mianwali as he has been disqualified from political office over misleading officials about gifts he received from foreign leaders while in power.
Imran Khan was disqualified for five years under Article 63(i)(iii) for submitting a false statement in the case.
