Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday approved the post-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati in controversial tweet case.
According to details, the court granted the bail to Azam Swati and ordered to release him against surety bonds of Rs2,00,000.
Earlier today, IHC had reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Senator.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Aamer Farooq heard Swati’s bail application.
Azam Swati's lawyer, Babar Awan, while arguing in the court, said that Sindh and Balochistan High Courts had closed the cases against his client, adding that, “I have never seen such First Investigation Report (FIR) in which time and place of incident are not written”.
While speaking to Babar Awan, the Chief Justice of IHC stated that you are saying that the Standard operating procedures (SOPs) were not followed, to which Awan replied, “Yes of course, they had to inform me about the charges against my client, the case is not due in process, so where will the fair trial come from”?
The lawyer further said that no one is good or bad in the eyes of the law until proven guilty.
The Deputy Attorney General requested more time to present arguments while the court inquired about the position of the challan of the case, during the hearing.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials said that the challan had been submitted on December 24, and the hearing is scheduled for January 3 (tomorrow).
The Deputy Attorney General said that the accused had committed the crime again while a case was already pending before, while the FIA officials told that senator had not surrendered his Twitter account.
The court while talking to the agency officials said that you ended the physical remand yourself first, is there any chance of tampering?
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Aamer Farooq reserved the decision on Azam Swati's bail application after hearing the arguments of the parties.
