First shipment of cheap oil from Russia to reach Pakistan next month: Musadik
The Minister confirms that the government had successfully concluded negotiations with Russia for the import of oil.
Islamabad: Dr. Musadik Malik, Pakistan's Minister of State for Petroleum, on Sunday announced that the country would import low-priced oil from Russia in the coming month to provide relief to the general public.
In an interview with a private news channel, he confirmed that the government had successfully concluded negotiations with Russia for the import of oil.
The first consignment of oil will arrive in Pakistan next month through a cargo, he said, adding that the government would make sure to sell the oil at an affordable price to the general public.
When asked about rationalizing power and gas tariffs, the Minister of State explained that the government would introduce different tariffs for the poor and elite classes. He further elaborated that the government had already made progress on this matter and was hoping to introduce separate billing for the poor and rich classes.
Dr. Malik expressed his confidence that the announcement of a separate tariff for the poor would bring relief to the most vulnerable segments of the population.
