Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for his inaugural state visit to the United States, signifying the deepening relationship between the two countries.

Upon the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Modi is set to arrive in Washington on June 22.

The visit holds significant importance, as it includes attending a state dinner hosted by the President and First Lady at the White House and delivering a speech before the US Congress.

In preparation for Modi's visit, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will travel to India next week to discuss and enhance collaboration on critical areas of mutual interest between the two nations.

Recognizing the importance of India as a key partner in countering China's influence, the US has been actively forging military and industrial links.

Although divergent approaches exist regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine, both nations are committed to deepening their strategic alliance.

India's reliance on Russia for military supplies has been a longstanding factor, but the US seeks to fulfill a more significant portion of India's defense needs.

Furthermore, the US is seeking India's support as the host of this year's Group of 20 (G20) summit to exert pressure on Russia over the conflict in Ukraine.
