First Russian oil ship reaches Karachi port
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reacted to the ship's arrival by saying that he has fulfilled another promise to the nation.
Karachi: The first Russian cargo ship on Sunday successfully reached its destination, anchoring at Karachi port with a significant cargo of 45,142 metric tons of crude oil.
Pakistan's energy sector has received a remarkable boost with the arrival of this Russian oil tanker at Karachi port, fulfilling a long-awaited dream. The docking of the ship not only addresses Pakistan's energy needs but also signifies a crucial milestone in the country's endeavors to strengthen trade and economic relations with Russia.
Earlier in May, Pakistan and Russia established a naval connection when a Pakistani vessel arrived in St. Petersburg carrying 26,000 tonnes of goods. This marked the commencement of regular trade and maritime activities between the two nations. The recent arrival of the Russian cargo ship further underscores the expanding trade and economic partnership between Pakistan and Russia.
Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he fulfilled another promise to the nation.
The Prime Minister said today is a transformative day. He said we are moving one step at a time toward prosperity, economic growth and energy security and affordability.
He said this is the first ever Russian oil cargo to Pakistan and the beginning of a new relationship between Pakistan and Russian Federation.
Shehbaz Sharif commended all those who remained part of this national endeavor and contributed to translating the promise of Russian oil import into reality.
