Jane Marriott appointed British High Commissioner in Pakistan
Jane Marriott has been serving as High Commissioner to Kenya since September 2019.
Islamabad: Jane Marriott has been appointed as first female and new British High Commissioner to Pakistan.
According to details, Marriott will take up her duties in mid-July.
Turning to Twitter, Jane Marriott wrote: “Delighted to be appointed as the next British High Commissioner to Pakistan!”
She said that England and Pakistan are connected by heritage, strong people ties, climate cooperation & growing trade.
“Dosti [Friendship] and Commonwealth links can ensure a prosperous future,” the commissioner further wrote.
She also wrote in Urdu, will see you soon.
Jane Marriott has been serving as High Commissioner to Kenya since September 2019.
Earlier, Christian Turner was serving as the British High Commissioner to Pakistan from December 2019. He stepped down after completing his tenure.
Christian Turner has been appointed Director-General Geopolitical at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London.
