ACC approves PCB hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023
The event is scheduled from August 31 to September 17.
Lahore: Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has approved the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) hybrid model for the ACC Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 17.
This decision marks the return of a multi-nation cricket tournament to Pakistan after 15 years, with matches set to be played in the country alongside Sri Lanka, serving as the neutral venue.
Najam Sethi, Chair of the PCB Management Committee, expressed his gratitude to the ACC for accepting the hybrid model.
He acknowledged that it would have been a delight for passionate fans to witness the Indian cricket team playing in Pakistan after 15 years but acknowledged the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) position.
Both the PCB and BCCI require government approval and clearance for cross-border travel.
Sethi emphasized that the acceptance of this model ensures the unity and continuity of the ACC, allowing cricket to flourish.
