California: In a recent announcement, WhatsApp has revealed its decision to discontinue support for Android versions 4.1 to 4.4.4 starting from October 24, 2023.

Users with phones running these older Android versions will no longer be able to use the messaging app and will need to upgrade to at least Android 5.0 to continue using WhatsApp.

To check the Android version, navigate to device settings and tap on "About" followed by "Android version."

Although the location of this information may vary, the user will find the version number within the settings menu.

Unfortunately, if the user's device is still operating on Android 4.1, there are no further updates available.

Even if the user could upgrade to the latest Android 13, his/her phone or tablet is unlikely to support it.

In such cases, it is advisable to consider purchasing a new smartphone.
