Wheat flour prices hit record high in Karachi: PBS

Karachi: Flour prices in Karachi have scaled a new peak of Rs3200 per 20-kilogramme bag on Sunday.

One kilogram of flour now costs Rs320 in Karachi, more than it does in Punjab and Islamabad, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The price of 1 kg of flour in Karachi is currently Rs320, which is more than the cost of the same item in Islamabad and Punjab, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

According to the statistics, the cost of a 20kg bag of flour in Karachi increased by Rs200 last week, bringing the price to Rs3,200. The 20kg bag was now available in Hyderabad for Rs3,040, an increase of Rs140.

In addition, the cost of a 20kg bag of flour jumped in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sukkur, and Quetta by, respectively, Rs146, Rs93, Rs120, and Rs100.

According to earlier reports, "rising inflation" caused sugar prices to increase to a record high of up to Rs160 per kilo in retail shops across Pakistan.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported that the sugar prices at retail level surged to Rs150 in different parts of the country – such as Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The price of the sugar in Quetta and Lahore, meanwhile, was Rs142 per kilogram and Rs145 per kilogram, respectively.
