20 killed, 15 injured as passenger bus catches fire near Pindi Bhattian

Faisalabad: At least 20 people, including women and children, were burnt alive to death while 10 others sustained injuries in a collision between a passenger bus and a pick-up carrying diesel barrels on Faisalabad Motorway near Pindi Bhattian on Sunday.

The collision also claimed the lives of the drivers of both vehicles. According Pakistani rescue personnel, the bus was headed from Karachi to Islamabad and was carrying roughly 40 people.

The accident happened because the driver of the passenger bus fell asleep. The bus suddenly caught fire. As a result, 20 passengers died and 15 sustained serious injuries.

The process of identifying the burnt passengers is still going on.

According to Hafizabad DPO Dr. Fahad, 15 victims of the accident have been sent to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

According to Rescue 1122, its teams reached the venue within five minutes.

Six members of the same family are among those who perished in the tragedy, while those hurt were from Karachi, Khairpur, Faisalabad, Jalalpur Bhattian, and Pindi Bhattian.

The passenger bus was burned into ashes after colliding with a diesel truck, according to Hafizabad DSP Ahsan Zafar.

By breaking windows, neighboring individuals attempted to pull the people from the bus.

The catastrophe occurred around 4:30 in the morning, and the fire was extinguished after a stressful hour of work.

The bus driver was reportedly replaced in Rahim Yar Khan at the same time as the vehicle's fuel began to leak close to the M3 toll plaza on Pindi Bhattian, according to a survivor.
