Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader, Sirajul Haq, declared on Sunday the organization's intent to stage nationwide protest demonstrations starting from September 2, in response to the surging electricity bills.

He made these remarks at the commemorative event in Lahore on Sunday.

The JUI-F chief voiced concern over the populace being encumbered with an array of 16 taxes imposed within their electricity bills.

"We are set to initiate a countrywide strike, advocating the retraction of these stringent verdicts. The predicament has transitioned from adversity to sheer dismay, with our nation resorting to soliciting loans from various nations," he asserted.

The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami recounted his interaction with Rizwana, a victim of violence, whose mother lamented that they had surrendered their cherished daughter to the judge's spouse for a mere sum of Rs13,000. He recounted a visit to Jaranwala, where the homes of innocent citizens were razed, underscoring the absence of equitable justice for the underprivileged within the country.

Expressing his perspective, Sirajul Haq highlighted the disintegration of the existing system, pinpointing the scarcity of advocates for the people. He emphasized the indispensability of comprehending the Holy Quran to truly understand religion. He emphasized that justice and fairness were pivotal for any nation's advancement and growth.
