Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday will pronounce its reserved verdict on suspension of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s sentence in Toshakhana case.
According to details, earlier on yesterday (Monday), IHC had reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of the parties on the appeal for suspension of the sentence of Imran Khan, which will be pronounced today at 11:00 am.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Jahangiri heard the plea of Imran Khan against the trial court's sentence in Toshakhana case.
On the occasion of the hearing, the lawyer of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that this is a case of corrupt practices. PTI chief came to the court for only 4 out of 44 hearings.
He accepted the argument of Imran that session court is not authorized to conduct the trial, however said that the trial should have been conducted by the session court after the scrutiny of the magistrate.
On the other hand, former Prime Minister Imran Khan's lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa came to the rostrum and said that he did not want to interfere with the arguments of ECP’s lawyer but wanted to refer some decisions.
Latif Khosa referred to the decision of Supreme Court to uphold the suspension of Nawaz Sharif's sentence. He said that the lawyer of Election Commission took one hour that day and two hours today.
Later, after hearing the arguments of the parties, Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri reserved the decision.
The court staff said the decision of this case will be pronounced today at 11:00 am while the court staff also informed the lawyers of Chairman PTI.
