Pervez Elahi re-arrested after release from Police Lines
The lawyer of Chaudhary Pervez Elahi says that his client has been arrested despite the clear orders of the court.
Islamabad: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhary Pervez Elahi was re-arrested after his release in light of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) orders on Tuesday (today).
The sources said that Chaudhary Pervez Elahi was arrested from the main road outside the Islamabad police.
The footage received to GNN TV correspondent showed that Chaudhary Pervez Elahi was in the car of his lawyer Advocate Sardar Abdul Raziq. However, it is not yet clear that in which case, he was arrested.
According to Idrees Abbasi, the GNN correspondent, Pervez Elahi was arrested again from the car of his lawyer when he reached outside the main gate of Islamabad police lines, and the IHC had suspended MPO 3 and observed that Elahi be set free if he was not required in any other case.
SP Saddar Nosherwan was standing there on the road along with his team while Shalimar Police Station SHO Kamal removed the driver from the seat and people in the plain clothes were also present there.
The Islamabad police spokesperson said that the CTD officials arrested Chaudhary Pervez Elahi in a case 3/23 but the charges were not clear yet.
“The court orders are not being implemented,” said the lawyer of Chaudhary Pervez Elahi at the time of his arrest. He said they took orders of the IHC and they were asked to wait at the gate of the police lines for more than an hour.
The latest reports said that the police took Chaudhary Pervez Elahi back to Police Lines.
Earlier, the IHC and the LHC had categorically ordered the authorities concerned to immediately release Chaudhary Pervez Elahi.
