Govt inaugurates plastic road for the first time in Lahore
The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab said that the costs of Rs20 million have been incurred on the plastic road.
Lahore: For the first time in the history of Punjab, a plastic road has been built. Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Raza Naqvi inaugurated Zafar Ali Plastic Road from Lahore Gymkhana Mall Road to Jail Road.
According to details, the technical assistance in the construction of this road was provided by the professors of University of Engineering and Technology (UET). The plastic road is 60% cost effective than the tar road and 100% better in durability.
The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab said that the costs of Rs20 million have been incurred on the plastic road from Lahore Gymkhana to Jail Road, while the cost of tarred road of the same length is Rs60 million. The scope will be widened and Mall Road will also be converted into Plastic Road.
He stated that the plastic road does not perish easily with water and remains good for at least 10 years. Plastic road is built by recycling waste. Plastic bags and other materials are recycled to make pellets, then chemicals are mixed with a small amount of tar.
