Lahore: The operation of trains has been immediately suspended due to the fall of a pillar on the railway bridge close to Shahdara on Friday.

The representative for Railways claims that railway workers arrived to the location after obtaining timely information.

According to the spokesperson, the restoration work on the bridge got started right away.

The Railway Divisional Officer (CO Lahore) and Divisional Superintendent Lahore, among others, are on the site and working assiduously to hasten the restoration of the bridge.

It is expected that normal traffic on the bridge will resume within 72 hours.

Trains are being diverted through the Abbottabad route and rerouted via the mainline during this time, according to the statement.

Following the incident, the Badar and Ghouri Express that runs between Faisalabad and Lahore as well as the Mardan Express between Lahore and Kundian have both been temporarily canceled.

The Karachi-Lahore Express has been rerouted via Sahiwal, while changes have also been made to the Shalimar and Minwali Express routes.
