Lahore: In a recent development, Zainab Abbas, a well-known presenter for the ICC World Cup 2023, has left India following allegations of making "anti-India" and "anti-Hindu" remarks on the social media platform 'X,' previously known as Twitter. The accusations were formally filed by Indian lawyer Vineet Jindal, who brought to light a series of older tweets from Abbas.

Confirming her departure from India, Zainab Abbas is currently residing in Dubai, dismissing any deportation reports circulating in the media. It is essential to note that Abbas was in India as part of the International Cricket Council (ICC) panel for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Up to this point, the ICC has not issued an official statement regarding the matter, and the situation remains under scrutiny.

Zainab Abbas is a highly respected sports journalist in Pakistan, renowned for her coverage of various international cricketing events. Her most recent assignment before the World Cup 2023 was covering the Asia Cup 2023.

Before leaving India, Zainab expressed her excitement about exploring Indian culture and her role in the prestigious event. She shared her thoughts on Twitter, stating, "There was always intrigue about what lies on the other side, with more cultural similarities than differences, rivalry on the field but camaraderie off the field, the same language & love for art & a country with a billion people. I'm here to represent, create content, and bring in expertise from the best in the business. Humbled to be presenting in India at the Cricket WC2023 for the @ICC again; a journey away from home of 6 weeks starts now."
