Rawalpindi launches aggressive crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles to combat smog.
Rawalpindi: In an effort to combat environmental pollution and smog, Rawalpindi City Traffic Police has announced a comprehensive crackdown on vehicles emitting smoke.
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Taimur Khan, revealed that stringent measures will be taken to ensure that no smoke-emitting vehicle is allowed to enter the city.
Furthermore, heavy fines will be imposed on such vehicles found emitting smoke within city limits.
Special teams will be stationed at various entry points to monitor and enforce these restrictions.
Additionally, the authorities are taking strict action against vehicles without tarpaulins, dumpers, trolleys, and other loaders, as these vehicles can contribute significantly to environmental pollution.
Reports indicate that a staggering 83% of smog in the region is attributed to smoke-emitting vehicles.
To address this pressing concern, CTO Rawalpindi has formed a dedicated smog squad.
Circle in-charges have been instructed to take swift and effective action against vehicles responsible for contributing to the smog problem.
