Lahore: A Lahore district and sessions court on Monday rejected the police request, seeking extension in physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi in a case pertaining to illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.

Pervaiz Elahi was detained by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on suspicion of designating Muhammad Khan Bhatti as his principal secretary while he was the chief minister.

Following a crackdown against the party in the midst of the May 9 incident, the PTI President has been arrested multiple times in a variety of circumstances.

Moreover, the Judicial Magistrate Imran Abid was not in the office today, thus Pervaiz Elahi was brought before Duty Judge Amir Raza under strict security.

The PTI president remained in jail on judicial remand after the judge issued the reserved verdict and denied the police request to extend Elahi's physical remand.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was physically remanded for an additional two days in an illegal appointment case by the Lahore sessions court during the last hearing.
