Govt assures IMF of immediate action on relaxation of tax target
The FBR has assured the IMF of achieving the tax target for the current financial year.
Islamabad: The caretaker government has assured International Monetary Fund (IMF) that additional measures will be taken immediately if the tax target falls short, reportedly.
According to media reports, IMF and Federal Board of Revenue authorities have negotiated on the revenue collection plan in the next eight months of the current financial year.
It is reported that FBR provided complete details of sales tax, income tax, customs and excise from each sector during negotiations.
There is a possibility of agreement on the method of tax collection stuck in the cases. FBR has also planned to include retailers in the tax net from January.
The FBR has assured the IMF of achieving the tax target for the current financial year.
