SC rejects another plea to delay elections
The Supreme Court dismissed the review petition related to the delimitation of Constituency PB-12 of Balochistan.
Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Tuesday dismissed the review petition related to constituencies in Balochistan constituency PB-12. The court declared that the electoral constituencies cannot be changed after the election schedule is released.
According to the details, petitioner Amir Khan had approached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Balochistan High Court (BHC), which was heard by a three-member bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Sardar Tariq Masood.
The Supreme Court rejected another petition to delay the elections, in which objections were raised on the electoral constituencies.
Acting Chief Justice Sardra Tariq Masood said that the date of general elections has brought a little stability in the country.
Justice Sardar Tariq stated that the date of general elections is not a trivial matter.
Lawyer petitioner Qamar Afzal added that a wrong decision was taken regarding electoral constituencies.
On which Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that the election program has been released, nothing can be done now. If decisions are made on individual petitions, the election process will be affected.
Justice Mansoor continued to say that they will not disturb the date of general elections on February 8 on such petitions.
Justice Athar Minullah said that there should be no delay in the elections, no one will be allowed to do so.
