Consumers face additional monthly fixed charges by SNGPL
According to the authorities, consumers can challenge these fixed charges in the High Court.
Islamabad: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) imposed additional monthly fixed charges of billions of rupees on consumers, reportedly.
According to the media reports, the bills will be issued by adding fixed charges to the November gas bills.
It has also been reported that OGRA has quietly allowed the collection of fixed charges. The protected customers using 0.9 hectares of gas will pay fixed charges of Rs400 per month, while non-protected users using up to 1.5 hectares will pay an additional bill of Rs1,000 per month.
In this regard, Sui Gas officials stated that the monthly fixed charges have been added with the approval of the government, this is an abuse of consumers but we are bound to do that.
According to the authorities, consumers can challenge these fixed charges in the High Court.
The authorities also stated that they estimate that these fixed charges taken from consumers are 60 to 70 billion rupees annually.
