7473 candidates submitted nomination papers for the National Assembly, out of which 6449 candidates were approved.


Islamabad: The details of the acceptance and rejection of the nomination papers of the candidates for the upcoming general elections to be held on February 8, 2024 have been revealed.
According to the details, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released the details of acceptance and rejection of nomination papers of candidates for general elections in which it has been stated that 7473 candidates submitted nomination papers for the National Assembly, out of which the Returning Officers approved the nomination papers of 6449 candidates and rejected the papers of 1024 candidates.
18,478 candidates submitted nomination papers for provincial assemblies out of which 2216 nomination papers were rejected in four provinces, while papers of 16,262 candidates were accepted for seats of four provincial assemblies.
521 National Assembly candidates from Punjab, 93 candidates from Islamabad, 166 candidates from Sindh, 152 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 92 candidates from Balochistan were rejected.
Apart from this, the papers of 943 candidates from Punjab Assembly, 520 from Sindh Assembly, 367 from KP Assembly, 386 candidates from Balochistan were rejected while the papers of 252 women were rejected for the general seats of National and Provincial Assemblies.
