Sheikh Rashid pledges to contest polls even in detention
The former minister stated his confidence in winning a majority in two constitutions on February 8.
Rawalpindi: The chairman of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Monday asserted readiness to contest elections even from jail if arrested.
Addressing the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), he mentioned completing 40-day solitude (chilla), making sacrifices and refraining from holding press conference. He chose not to file complaints against anyone for the cases registered against him, trusting the matter to Allah.
He declared that even if he gets arrested, both he and his nephew Raashid Shafiq would take part in the elections from jail, symbolizing their campaign with an inkpot and pen.

Speaking to voters he insisted them to fulfill their duty by casting their votes on February 8. Highlighting the challenges of inflation and unemployment gripping the nation, Rashid concluded by expressing his commitment to a mission aimed at its recovery.
