CJP Faez Isa says: “We Need to remove Kalashnikov culture”

Islamabad: A three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa heard the case which was about the bail of the accused Kashif, in charge of robbery in Supreme Court (SC).

During the hearing, CJP remarked that while the weapon was stolen, the Police did not even ask for the license, the owner himself admits that 2 Kalashnikovs, a pistol and some other precious things were stolen.

Faez Isa said: “I was also offered to take the license of Kalashnikov. The Drugs and Kalashnikov have destroyed Pakistan badly. Carrying Kalashnikov while sitting in black cars is only happening in Pakistan."

While talking to the petitioner, CJP asked where did you get the Kalashnikov from? If the Inspector General (IG) is allowing such papers to give Kalashnikovs, why should we not act against him?

CJP further said: “We should write a letter to the interior secretary to return all the Kalashnikovs and their licenses. People are seen having Kalashnikovs with them to show their influence.”

The Chief Justice of Pakistan stated that there are guards standing outside the houses with Kalashnikovs in Islamabad. Whereas the police do not have much courage to ask them about their license. How would they know if the guards were terrorists or someone else?

Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that carrying weapons without a license is a legal crime. However, the police did not even ask the owner in inquiry.

Seeking details from the concerned authorities, notices were issued to all Secretaries of the Interior Department, all IGs, Attorney General and Provincial Advocate Generals.
