Govt challenges decision to annul cipher trial in jail against Imran
It has been appealed in the petition that the November 21, 2023 decision of IHC should be annulled.
Islamabad: The federal government Friday challenged the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) to invalidate the cipher trial in jail against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
According to the petition filed by the federal government, it has been stated that the High Court declared the special court set up for cipher trial as invalid.
The High Court does not have the authority to dismiss the status of special court and the Islamabad High Court did not properly overview the facts.
It has been appealed in the petition that the November 21, 2023 decision of IHC should be annulled.
A division bench of IHC comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, pronounced the decision on November 21, 2023 following Imran’s intra-court appeal against a single-member bench’s decision to approve his jail trial in the cipher case under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
