Social media platforms face disruption in Pakistan
The latest reports say that platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have been slowed down in the country.
Lahore: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms slowed down in the country just one and half hour before the virtual power show of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The reason for slow down is not yet clear till writing of these words but the internet users faced huge problems due to unannounced disruptions.
However, the websites, especially the news website continued to work amid the disruptions to other social media platforms.
The users used alternative ways like the VPN to continue their engagements with the social media platforms.
Interestingly, Shehbaz Gill, the PTI leader, had warned against disruption of the social media platforms ahead of his party’s digital jalsa. He sarcastically said that the internet would be slowed down by the authorities.
Taking to X, PTI, however, directly blamed the caretakers for suspending internet in the country ahead of its virtual jalsa.
