Karachi: Ali Afzal Khan recently disclosed that his transition away from the entertainment industry towards a more religiously inclined path was greatly influenced by esteemed Naat Khawan (reciter) Junaid Jamshed.
Ali Afzal Khan shed light on his decision to step back from the limelight of showbiz.
He expressed these words in a recent podcast.
Ali Afzal Khan revealed that he had actively participated in the industry from the ages of 20 to 22, portraying diverse roles as an actor and host. He emphasized the frequent encounters with Junaid Jamshed, given Jamshed's prominence as a Naat Khawan and his own standing as an actor.
The former actor shared that his journey towards a deeper religious understanding began during his hosting career, where he delved into exploring and comprehending the teachings of Holy Quran. However, following personal differences and his subsequent departure from hosting, Junaid Jamshed inspired him towards a path of preaching.
During this transformative period, Ali Afzal Khan spent an initial three and then an extended 40-day period in seclusion [Chilla], reestablishing regular prayers and deliberating between continued involvement in showbiz or a stronger commitment to his faith. Ultimately, he chose to distance himself from the entertainment industry and embrace a more spiritually focused lifestyle.
Reflecting on the challenges of relinquishing a thriving career, Ali Afzal Khan affirmed his decision to depart from showbiz approximately 8 to 9 months ago, ceasing to engage in contractual agreements thereafter.
