Prince Charles suggests yoga for people recovering from Covid
London: Prince Charles seems to have suggested that people recovering from Covid-19 should take up yoga for “health and healing”.
The heir apparent of the British Monarchy has long been an advocate for homeopathy and alternative medicine. In 2019, he suggested that NHS add yoga as a therapy to its roster. In that statement, Prince Charles had written that yoga had “proven beneficial effects on the body and mind”.
Doctors should work together with “complementary healthcare specialists” to “build a roadmap to hope and healing” post-Covid, Prince Charles said in a video message recorded for a healthcare symposium called Wellness After Covid.
“This pandemic has emphasised the importance of preparedness, resilience and the need for an approach which addresses the health and welfare of the whole person as part of society, and which does not merely focus on the symptoms alone”, he said, adding that “therapeutic, evidence-informed yoga” can contribute to the healing process.
The heir to the throne also says in the video that although he got Coronavirus last year, he “got off lightly” compared to others who either lost their lives or had a prolonged sickness.
The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker, has also said in 2017 that she does “a bit” of yoga, stressing that the ancient Indian practice reduces stiffness as people age. “It makes you much more supple. I think it’s very important as you get older to take exercise and stretch,” she remarked.
