Washington DC: United States has condemned any kind of ban on Internet platforms in Pakistan as unacceptable, saying that it condemns partial or complete government shutdown of Internet platforms.

Speaking during a press briefing, the spokesperson of the US Department of State Matthew Miller said that like the rest of the world, they support freedom of expression in Pakistan as well and condemns the partial or complete government shutdown of Internet platforms, including X.

Matthew Miller stated that any restriction on internet platforms is unacceptable, stressing the importance of Pakistan's authorities respecting these fundamental freedoms and will continue to do so.

The spokesperson of the US Department of State added that they will continue to emphasize the importance of fundamental rights related to social media. The competitive elections were held in Pakistan, millions of people made their voices heard, a new government was formed, and they will work together with this government.

He further said that there were challenges from political parties on the reports of irregularities in the elections and the results, they want to see a full investigation of these challenges and these irregularities.

Matthew continued to say that they are playing a key role in strengthening the relationship between the people of the two countries, and would like to see these challenges and irregularities fully investigated.
