Khyber: Frontier Corps North and Customs conducted a joint operation at the Torkham border and thwarted an attempt to smuggle arms from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
Illegal weapons were seized from two cargo vehicles during the search at Torkham border.
Among the seized weapons, three M-16 rifles, two Bretta pistols, 4000 rounds of AK-47, eight bolts of AK-47 were recovered.
Apart from this, five pistol magazines, 8000 rounds of 9-mm pistol, 40 springs and one pistol were recovered.
The drivers were arrested and the weapons were handed over to Customs for legal action.
