PM thanks China for extending support to combat environmental challenges
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday thanked China for offering support to step up cooperation in restoration of ecosystem to combat environmental challenges.
On his official twitter handle, the premier thanked President Xi Jinping for his strong message on World Environment Day 2021 hosted by Pakistan reflecting Islamabad's commitment to counter environment degradation.
He also lauded the Chinese leadership in combatting climate change and biodiversity loss.
Khan wrote, “I thank President Xi’s strong message on World Environment Day 2021 hosted by ðµð° reflecting our commitment to counter environment degradation”.
He further added, “We laud Pres Xi's ldrship in combatting climate change & biodiversity loss & his offer to step up cooperation on ecosystem restoration”.
Chinese President, Xi Jinping said that China commends Pakistan's commitment to ecosystem restoration, and stands ready to work with Pakistan and the rest of international community to step up cooperation within the UN framework.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appreciated Khan for undertaking a mega project of planting ten billion trees.
“It is a huge campaign for forestation,” he stated.
Executive Director UN Environment Programme, Inger Anderson said Pakistan is showing us a way. Prime Minister Imran Khan recently planted one billion tree of Ten Billion Tree Tsunami. Bravo to all.
Borge Brende, President Word Economic Forum congratulated Pakistan and stated that with these nature positive measures, Pakistan is showing to the world that it is possible to combine objectives of livelihood, resilience and ecological health.
