Pilot project launched to make Lahore eco-friendly

Lahore: A pilot project has been launched to make the provincial capital Lahore environment-friendly for living.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz visited Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Avenue One and inaugurated the Central Park covering 87 Kanals to make Lahore the best eco-friendly residential city. The Chief Minister also planted saplings in LDA Avenue One Central Park.

On this occasion, she was briefed that innovative measures have been taken for the protection and beauty of the environment in the LDA Avenue Society. The Central Park of LDA Avenue has been made a model park. Jogging track, walkways, kids play area, open gym, and badminton court have been established in Central Park.

It was told in the briefing that a cafeteria, mosque, and rose garden have been built in LDA Avenue One Central Park. Solar street lights have been installed in Central Park, special vending points for food and drinks have been established. Rainwater harvesting, cycling and model cemetery have also been built in LDA Avenue One.  

Maryam Nawaz inspected the vending points of LDA Avenue One where fruits and vegetables were available for sale on clean and new design carts.

She said that it is a good arrangement, but some day she will make an uninformed visit and check again.

The Chief Minister also inspected the LDA upgraded enforcement squad and handed over the keys of new motorcycles to the enforcement squad.
