Islamabad: Punjab Police on Sunday raided the residence of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, in an attempt to arrest him.
A police contingent from Mianwali, accompanied by Islamabad Police, conducted the raid at Ayub's house located in F-10, Islamabad.
Omar Ayub announced on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that a bailable warrant had been issued for him by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Sargodha. He explained that police teams from Mianwali and Islamabad had raided his house in an effort to detain him.
Ayub criticized the federal and Punjab governments, accusing them of pursuing his arrest based on Form-47. He claimed that the raid demonstrated a lack of rule of law in the country. He reaffirmed his commitment to the political struggle, stating, “Our struggle will continue until Imran Khan becomes prime minister,”.
It is important to note that Omar Ayub is wanted in connection with an anti-terrorism case.
