Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan said that he had never incited violence during his 28-year political career and called for an independent investigation into the May 9 incidents.
Khan made these statements via video-link during a hearing at Lahore's anti-terrorism court, where he faced charges in 12 cases related to the violence on May 9.
During the hearing, Judge Khalid Arshad granted Khan permission to speak. Khan stated, "I have never provoked anyone to engage in violent protests throughout my 28-year political career. There has been no independent inquiry into the May 9 incidents."
Khan also mentioned that he has petitioned the Supreme Court for a fair investigation into the May 9 violence.
“I was attacked in Gujranwala and wanted to file an FIR against Major General Faisal Naseer, but it was not registered,” he added.
Recently, Khan was arrested in connection with 12 cases related to the May 9 violence, including the attack on Jinnah House, after being acquitted in the Iddat case.
