US expresses concern over ban on political party in Pakistan
The State Department spokesman further said that the United States has always supported the democratic process and broader principles and measures of justice, including the rule of law.
Washington: The United States has expressed concern over the Pakistan government's decision to ban political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said in a press briefing that he had seen the government's statement regarding banning the political party.
He stated that banning a political party is a matter of concern as this move is against human rights, freedom of expression, and peaceful observance of constitutional and democratic principles.
Matthew Miller added: “We condemn political violence in any country, including Pakistan. America is against human rights violations. We want to see respect for democratic values and fundamental rights and support the rule of law in Pakistan”.
