JI chief Hafiz Naeem warns to move sit-in to D-chowk
He says that negotiations and fascism couldn’t go simultaneously
Islamabad: Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Saturday warned to stage sit-in at D-chowk if government did not refrain titself from fascism.
Taking to media in Islamabad, JI chief said that negotiations and fascism couldn’t go simultaneously. However, he said that Liaqat Baloch had been given the mandate to negotiate with the committee formed by the federal government.
Liaqat Baloch while speaking to Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Mohsin Naqvi over telephone, demanded reduction in the consumption of 500 units’ electricity bill to 50%, termination of contracts to make capacity payments to IPPs and stop paying them in dollars.
He also demanded to reverse the latest hike in petrol prices and lift the petroleum development levy.
During a press talk, he demanded to halt the already completed contracts with the IPPs, and also to negotiate with the stake holders of the ongoing contracts. He also demanded the forensic audit of the IPPs involved in forgery.
He mentioned that over 200 party workers including elderly are still behind bars in different areas of Punjab. The party workers are arrested in Lahore and FIRs have been registered against them.
The JI chief aso demanded immediate release of held workers and the dismissal of cases against them.
Brain drain is at peack as a large number of youth was leaving Pakistan for a better and stable future, he said.
He alleged that the power plants are owned by the Sharif family, and that the family was responsible for Pakistan’s deterioration.
Rehman concluded that many people in the JI believed to stage this sit-in at D-Chowk, but this would result in violence.
But if our demands were not met we would be forced to move towards D- Chowk. This sit-in would turn into a historic revolution, he said.
