Greenback settles at Rs278.45 in the interbank market

Karachi: The US dollar appreciated against the Pakistan rupee in the interbank market on Wednesday, weakening the local currency by 13 paise.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the greenback settled at Rs278.47 after gaining 13 paise. The dollar settled at Rs278.35 on Tuesday.
According to currency experts, the dollar strengthened against the local unit because of a delay in the rollover of $9 billion in loans and external payments.
The dollar once lost seven paise in the initial trading but regained its value later. In the open market, the greenback closed at Rs280 without any change.
