CJP denies Sanaullah’s statement regarding extension
Justice Qazi Faez Isa stated that I do not know whether I will be alive tomorrow or not
Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa denied the statement of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah and flatly refused to take the extension.
During an informal conversation with journalists at the beginning of the new judicial year, he was asked that Rana Sanaullah is saying that if the retirement age of all judges is extended, then you also agree to take the extension.
To this the Chief Justice replied, bring Rana Sanaullah face to face, there was a meeting in which Azam Nazir Tarar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Attorney General were present, Sanaullah was not part of the meeting. ‘When I heard that the tenure of all the Chief Justices was being extended, I said that the other judges should do it but I would not accept it’.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa stated that I do not know whether I will be alive tomorrow or not.
Another journalist inquired why the matter of six judges' letter is not being scheduled for hearing. He replied that the matter of the letter of six judges has to be decided by the committee. Justice Musarat Hilali was not coming due to her physical condition and therefore the bench could not be formed.
It is pertinent to note that on September 2, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar had said that Qazi Faez Isa does not want to take an extension. Repeatedly saying about him that he is taking an extension is not correct, it is unnecessary to talk about it.
