SC grants fake accounts case accused to go abroad
Court allowed the accused that he would be bound to return within two months
Islamabad: The Supreme Court allowed Dr Dansha, the accused in the fake accounts case, to go abroad.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Jamal Mandukhel heard the bail application of Dr Dansha, the accused in the fake accounts case.
The Supreme Court granted the bail application of Dr Dansha and accepted his request to return his passport and said that Dinshaw can go to UK for his daughter's marriage.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor stated that there is no objection to allowing Dr Dansha to go abroad once. The court has also allowed the accused to go once in the past.
Justice Shahzad Malik inquired whether there is a guarantee that Dr Dansha will return to the country. On which the accused's lawyer Farooq H. Naik said that Dr Dansha is willing to submit the bond. The Supreme Court granted bail in 2021 and has not misused it to date.
Justice Shehzad Malik said that in the bail decision, the passport was ordered to be surrendered, how can the Supreme Court review its decision after three years?
Lawyer Farooq H. Naik said that he was pleading for one visit, not for revision, so that he could attend his daughter's wedding. To which the NAB prosecutor said that after the amendments are restored, the case may be transferred to another forum.
Justice Musarat Hilali inquired why the trial had not started for four years. What has NAB been doing for so long?
