PM Shehbaz continues welcoming SCO guests
Strict security arrangements have been made in the federal capital Islamabad for SCO meeting
Islamabad: The arrival of guests to the Islamabad Convention Center for the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) continues.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the 23rd meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government to be held at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad.
Strict security arrangements have been made in the federal capital Islamabad for the SCO meeting and the capital has been decorated beautifully.
At the meeting of the SCO, Chinese Prime Minister Li Chiang, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Tajikistan Prime Minister Khair Rasulzadeh, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Zaparov Akilbey, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Oladas Banktinov, Tajikistan Prime Minister Kohar Rasulzada and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Arpiov will participate.
Apart from this, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Arif and Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar are also participating in the SCO conference while Mongolia is participating as an observer country represented by the Mongolian Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is welcoming all the distinguished guests. He will also deliver the National Statement in addition to opening the meeting.
A bilateral meeting between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Prime Minister of Russia is also expected today on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting.
The ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment, and socio-cultural relations will be discussed in the SCO meeting and the performance of the organisation will also be reviewed. Member States of the organization will make important organizational decisions to further enhance mutual cooperation and approve the organiaation's budget.
