SC full court approves plan to dispose pending case
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah proposed the plan for the expedited disposal of cases
Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan's full court meeting on Monday approved a proposal by Senior Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah for the expedited disposal of pending cases.
The session chaired by newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, took place with all available judges present, included a virtual participation by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
According to the statement released by the court, Justice Mansoor proposed a structured approach to expedite case disposals, suggesting a phased plan of one month, three months, and six months for the efficient handling of cases.
Currently, a staggering 59,191 cases remain pending in the Supreme Court, highlighting the urgent need for effective case management.
The Chief Justice expressed gratitude to the judges for their commitment to implementing the proposed case management plan, which will incorporate information technology to enhance efficiency.

The plan includes categorising cases into distinct groups based on clear criteria, allowing for a more organized approach to judicial proceedings.
Additionally, the meeting resolved to establish special benches of two and three judges to specifically address criminal and civil cases, further facilitating the quick resolution of these matters.
The Chief Justice emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it would significantly improve judicial efficiency.
