TB cases rise in Pakistan in 2023: WHO report

Karachi: The World Health Organization (WHO) has published a tuberculosis report.

According to the WHO, approximately 8.2 million people worldwide were diagnosed with TB last year.

According to the report, 2023 saw the highest number of TB cases since 1995. The disease disproportionately affected people in 30 countries, with the highest number of TB cases in India, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, and Pakistan.

The report also stated that more than a quarter of the 8.2 million cases were found in India and that there was a significant increase in TB cases in Pakistan as well.

According to the report, 55 percent of people affected by TB in 2023 were men and 33 percent were women, while 12 percent of children and youth were also affected by tuberculosis in 2023. TB is still causing more deaths and illnesses.
