Hong Kong Super Sixes: Pakistan qualifies for semi-finals

Mong Kok: In the Hong Kong World Super Sixes tournament, Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals by winning the third match in a row.

In the match played in Mong Kok, Pakistan defeated South Africa by 17 runs in the second quarter-final to reach the semi-finals of the event.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 105 runs in the allotted six overs. Captain Faheem Ashraf and Asif Ali returned to the pavilion on behalf of the green shirts, but Muhammad Akhlaq played an innings of 52 runs off 16 balls with the help of seven sixes and two fours, showing an aggressive batting. Similarly, Hussain Talat remained not out by scoring 27 runs.

South Africa did not start well in pursuit of the target, captain JJ Stams scored six runs while Jacques Snyman scored five runs. Evan Jones played a resistant innings of 46 runs, but the team could not win the match.

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan defeated traditional rivals India, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Africa in the event.
