BTS’s ‘Butter’ hits historic milestone; Tops Billboard Hot 100 for 9th week
Seoul: Acclaimed South Korean boy band BTS’s “Butter” bagged the No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for the ninth week. The summer song is being considered the longest-leading hit of 2021.
BTS’s “Butter” has officially beat out Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Drivers License”, passing the eight-week reign of in January-March.
In addition to being No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the song is No. 21 on the Radio Songs chat but drops 40-44 on the Streaming Songs chart, with 112,900 sold.
Both “Butter” and newly released “Permission to Dance” are currently present inside the top 10 on the all-encompassing songs ranking, with the former returning to the summit.
The K-pop band released the song on 21 May, and the music video broke their own record of the most views on YouTube in 24 hours. The record for the fastest 10 million views was held by BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ which was premiered back in August 2020.
"Dynamite" was the BTS' first song released entirely in English and it had managed 10 million views in 21 minutes. It became the most viewed video in 24 hours in YouTube history with over 101.1 million views.
The song was shared 5.4 million YouTube users in the first 24 hours.
