Asad Umar urges people aged 50 and above to get vaccinated at earliest
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has urged people aged 50 and above to get vaccinated on priority basis.
Taking to Twitter, Asad Umar who also heads National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) said that 21% of this group had received at least a single Covid-19 jab, four weeks ago and the figures have now reached 33%.
“This is the age group which is most vulnerable to serious disease due to covid. Please particularly encourage those in this age group to vaccinate,” Asad Umar said.
Earlier today, Pakistan received over 700,000 doses of Chinese Covid-19 vaccine from China. Besides Sinopharm, Pakistan is administering Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac and Cansino vaccines to people as well.
Pakistan has reported a share surge in Covid-19 deaths as threat of delta variant looms large in Pakistan.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,720 cases of coronavirus were reported while 95 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 23,797.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 1,063,125.
As many as 959,491 patients have recovered from the disease with 118 critical cases.
