Senate polls: Yousuf Raza Gilani declared joint candidate of PDM
Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Yousaf Raza Gillani has been declared the joint candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for upcoming Senate elections.
The announcement was made by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, who said that Yousuf Raza Gilani will submit nomination papers in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today.
The former premier will be accompanied by PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and PPP’s Pervez Ashraf.
It may be recalled that PPP had nominated Yousuf Raza Gilani as a senate candidate from Islamabad.
Earlier today, the ECP had approved Gillani’s application to transfer his vote to Islamabad.
On February 12, PPP announced its candidates for the March 03 Senate polls.
According to the statement, the PPP issued tickets to Yousaf Raza Gillani, Sherry Rehman, Saleem Mandviwalla, Taj Haider, Shahadat Awan, and Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar.
For the technocrat seat, the aprty nominated Farooq Naek, Karim Ahmed Khawaja and Shahadat Awan.
For the women’s seat, tickets were given to Palwasha Khan, Khairunisa Mughal and Rukhsana Shah. The PPP also issued ticket to Azeem-ul-Haq Minhas from Punjab.
